FOR PATIENTS - Colonoscopy Prep: Miralax / Gatorade / Citrate
FIVE DAYS PRIOR TO PROCEDURE:
Stop all iron, aspirin, Ecotrin, Advil, Alleve, Bufferine, Coumadin, Persantine, Ibuprofen, Ticlid or Plavix five (5) days prior to your procedure. (Tylenol is permitted)
Stop all arthritis medication five (5) days prior to your procedure. (Tylenol is permitted)
If you are diabetic, especially if you take insulin, discuss your diabetic medication with us prior to your procedure.
YOU MUST PURCHASE:
Magnesium Citrate (1) one bottle

DO NOT GET ORANGE, RED, BLUE OR PURPLE
TWO NIGHTS PRIOR TO YOUR COLONOSCOPY
Take 1 bottle of Magnesium Citrate at 8 pm
ONE DAY PRIOR TO YOUR COLONOSCOPY
Eat no solid food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Intake should include only clear liquids that you can see
through such as clear juice, lemon or lime jello and chicken broth. Avoid milk products.
You may continue to have clear liquids until midnight.
After midnight, you are to have nothing to eat or drink.

Mix the ENTIRE CONTAINER of Miralax with the 64 oz bottle Lemon-Lime Gatorade or 64oz. Crystal Lite Lemonade. Shake well until the powder is dissolved. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Between 4pm and 6pm drink an eight (8) oz. glass of Miralax/Gatorade or Crystal Lite solution every 15 minutes until the solution is completely gone. It can take 1 to 4 hours for a bowel movement to begin.

YOU CAN HAVE NOTHING BY MOUTH AFTER MIDNIGHT THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE
THE MORNING OF YOUR PROCEDURE
*IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you are taking medication (with the exception of those listed above) for a medical condition, especially cardiac or pulmonary or for hypertension, medication should be taken as prescribed with as little water as possible.
Someone MUST accompany you to the procedure. You will not be allowed to drive yourself home.
