DAY BEFORE UPPER ENDOSCOPY:

Nothing to eat or drink after midnight

DAY OF ENDOSCOPY:

Take your usual medicine (with the exception of those listed below)* with as little water as possible.

Someone must accompany you to drive you home after your procedure is completed. Due to mild sedation, patients are not allowed to leave the center without an escort and are not allowed to drive an automobile.

* IMPORTANT NOTICE:

If you are taking medication for hypertension or for a cardiac or pulmonary condition, medication should be taken as prescribed. Take with as little water as possible.

Do not take Ecotrin, Aspirin, Coumadin, Persantine, Ibuprofen, Ticlid, or Plavix for five (5) days prior to your procedure. Tylenol is permitted.

Discuss any arthritis or diabetic medicines with your doctor. If you are diabetic, especially if you take Insulin, discuss this with us prior to the day of your exam.
